Our annual Christmas Memorial event, which we’ve held for well over a decade, is the highlight of our team’s working year, so we’re sad to announce that a physical gathering will once again be impossible in 2021.
Last year, due to government restrictions surrounding the coronavirus, we adapted to create our first live-streamed event, presenting a slimmed-down version of the most popular elements via our Facebook page (@yourlocalfuneraldirector). With many people isolating in their homes, even we were surprised by the level of comfort the video brought, with many leaving comments and memories throughout the short service. The video was made available for our clients and their families to watch ‘on demand’ and by Christmas 2020 had been seen by over 2,600 people.
This year we will be once again live-streaming a short Christmas Memorial service on Facebook. Taking place at 4pm on Friday 17th December, the service will include both religious and non-religious readings, a lone piper, and the traditional blessing of a Christmas tree.
Families will once again have the chance to send us messages or memories of their loved ones (you can contact us here) and we’ll transfer those thoughts to special memorial tags and will hang them on the tree. Memorial tags will also be available in our branches from 8th December, but please call before collecting one so we can ensure we remain COVID-compliant.
With no songs and minimum team members in attendance, we expect the streaming to last no longer than 15 minutes. All are welcome to view the event so please spread the word.
