Three Counties Crematorium in Braintree
The modern Three Counties Crematorium in Braintree opened in 2009. It serves Braintree and the surrounding rural market towns and villages including Halstead, Coggeshall, Sudbury, and Haverhill.
Its name comes from the fact that it was designed to serve parts of Suffolk and Cambridgeshire, as well as Essex. Located at High Garrett, on the A131 Halstead Road just north of Braintree, the crematorium is set in a rural, typically East Anglian, landscape.
Services at Three Counties Crematorium
The crematorium chapel can accommodate larger funerals and is multi-faith; it has good access for disabled people, and provides car parking for up to 100 vehicles, including four disabled parking spaces. It is able to offer longer service times than other crematoria in the area.
Designed by Hugh Thomas, who also designed Bury St Edmunds, Banbury and the Garden of England crematoria, the crematorium was officially opened by the Right Reverend John Gladwin, Bishop of Chelmsford.
The crematorium is developing gardens of remembrance to provide a quiet, attractive area to help families remember their loved ones.
