The following options give an indication of the fees we charge (inclusive of VAT). However, these fees will vary depending on the choices you make as we can tailor the funeral to meet your requirements, e.g. style of coffin or urn, burial or cremation, church service or crematorium, minister/celebrant fees, transport choices etc.
Please note, with the Simple Funerals, you cannot choose the date and time of the funeral, which is at a time that fits in with us; hence we recommend our Standard Funeral option. We are always transparent with our pricing and will provide you with an accurate costing up front.

As a co-operative business, it is important to us that we present all our fees in a clear and transparent way. Please be aware that some costs may vary, dependent on the ranges, options and third parties selected, and that those listed here should be taken as a guide. Our team will advise you further, based on your choices.
If you hold a Chelmsford Star Co-op membership card, you’ll receive points for most of the funeral cost (this excludes some third party fees such as from a Doctor or florist). This will ensure you’ll receive a share of our profits when our dividend is announced.

Arrangements & administrationOur highly trained and professional personnel will be on hand 24 hours a day, handling all relevant documentation and liaising with third parties on our clients’ behalf. They’re available before, during and after the funeral, offering compassion, guidance and support.
Bringing the deceased into our careOur team will attend day or night within a 20 mile radius (additional mileage will be applicable outside this area), with a suitable vehicle for bringing your loved one into our care.
Preparation of the deceasedAll procedures will be carried out by our caring and qualified team, including laying your loved one to rest in their own clothes or gown, and in a casket or coffin of your choice.
Conducting the funeral serviceOur specially trained funeral directors, having spoken to you in detail, will arrange the funeral, taking responsibility for organising all aspects of the day and delivering it to the highest standards. Includes a hearse, 4 pall bearers and the conductor fee.

The Simple Funeral
|Funeral costs can be daunting, particularly during tough financial times, so we’ve created a lower cost option that still provides the same exceptional levels of service. All areas of the Simple funeral are the same as the Standard, however the coffin will be a Simple model, and the funeral service will take place on a day and time chosen by us.|

The Unattended Funeral
|This is not a traditional funeral, but rather a direct cremation. There is no change in the level of care, but there will be no service for mourners to attend.
We will collect the deceased during office hours, Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm (an additional fee of £200 is payable outside of these hours), provide a simple coffin, and take them to a crematorium of our choosing in a private ambulance at a day and time of our choice – within 14 days of completion of the necessary paperwork.
Disbursements, such as Doctor and crematorium fees, are included but the full cost of the service must be paid in advance.
